Denmark 2-0 Cyprus

Denmark were able to mark their 100th UEFA European Championship qualifier with victory as they overcame Cyprus 2-0 in Copenhagen.

Morten Olsen's side were on top throughout, but the contest was still goalless at the break and it needed second-half strikes from substitute Morten Rasmussen – who scored within three minutes of his introduction – and Kasper Lorentzen to secure the win. Following Friday's 3-1 loss to Portugal, Denmark now possess six points from three outings in Group H, while Cyprus are languishing on one.

England 0-0 Montenegro

England and Montenegro remain unbeaten in UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying but neither side can claim absolute authority over Group G following a goalless draw at Wembley.

Zlatko Kranjčar's visitors started and finished the day top of the section by three points after a disciplined display in London, albeit having played a game more than England. Three successive 1-0 wins had catapulted them to the summit and, despite enjoying scant possession, they so nearly made it four in a row when Milan Jovanović struck the bar late on during a frustrating evening for their hosts.

Switzerland 4-1 Wales

Switzerland finally got their UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying up and running with a convincing victory against Wales, whose third consecutive Group G defeat leaves them bottom of the section without a point.

Marco Streller's 21st-minute strike sent the hosts in at the break in front after Gareth Bale's equaliser had cancelled out an early opener from Valentin Stocker. Gökhan Inler's 82nd-minute spot kick and a late second from Stocker means Ottmar Hitzfeld's team can now begin their pursuit of England and Montenegro in earnest, while Wales will seek to get off the mark when they resume their campaign in March.

Greece 2-1 Israel

Greece replaced Croatia at the top of UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying Group F after a hard-earned 2-1 victory against Israel in Athens.

Dimitris Salpingidis put Fernando Santos's team men ahead in the 22nd minute with a neat lofted finish but Israel levelled 14 minutes after half-time when Greek defender Nikos Spyropoulos turned Roberto Colautti's cross past his own goalkeeper, Michalis Sifakis. However, Greece captain Giorgos Karagounis slotted home from the penalty spot just after the hour mark to clinch three points for the hosts, who now lead Croatia by a single point at the section summit.

Latvia 1-1 Georgia

Georgia remain unbeaten in UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying, but Temuri Ketsbaia's side were on course to top Group F before Aleksandrs Cauņa's late equaliser for Latvia.

A minute into added time, Kristaps Grebis nodded the ball down to Skonto FC midfielder Cauņa, and he produced a fine scissor-kick to deny Georgia all three points. David Siradze had put the visitors ahead on 74 minutes, scoring from close range after Ucha Lobzhanidze flicked Jano Ananidze's free-kick into his path.

San Marino 0-2 Moldova

A first-half goal from Nicolae Josan and a late penalty for substitute Anatolie Doroş rewarded a positive display for Moldova, with defeat leaving San Marino bottom of UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying Group E.

Moldova created plenty of chances in Serravalle, but received a substantial helping hand from the home side for both their goals. After 20 minutes San Marino goalkeeper Aldo Simoncini failed to hold on to Alexandru Suvarov's corner, with Josan pouncing to finish from close range. Simone Bacchiocchi's foul on Alexei Savinov then gave fellow replacement Doroş an opportunity he duly took from the spot.

Netherlands 4-1 Sweden

The Netherlands maintained their perfect record in UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying Group E with a convincing win against Sweden.

Two goals each from Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Ibrahim Afellay put the game beyond the visitors to Amsterdam, who did at least manage a consolation through Andreas Granqvist. The Netherlands, who have now won their last 12 qualifying fixtures, are three points ahead of Hungary with Sweden a similar distance further back, holding a game in hand.

Finland 1-2 Hungary

Balász Dzsudzsák struck a dramatic winner four minutes into added time in Finland as Hungary made it three wins from four outings in Group E.

Sándor Egervári's team looked to have been denied when Mikael Forssell cancelled out Ádám Szalai's opening goal with time running out. Yet after surviving a major scare when Finland substitute Shefki Kuqi fired narrowly wide the visitors broke on the counterattack and Dzsudzsák was on hand to made it 2-1 with virtually the last kick of the game.

France 2-0 Luxembourg

France recorded their third consecutive UEFA EURO 2012 win and a second in three days as goals from Karim Benzema and Yoann Gourcuff accounted for ten-man Luxembourg.

Having secured a confidence-boosting victory against Romania at the weekend, Laurent Blanc's team consolidated their position at the top of qualifying Group D with a comfortable triumph over the bottom team. The outcome rarely seemed in doubt from the moment Benzema struck midway through the first half and, after the visitors lost captain René Peters to a red card, Gourcuff made sure of the points on 76 minutes.

Belarus 2-0 Albania

Belarus ended Albania's unbeaten run with a dominant performance that earned them a valuable victory in UEFA EURO 2008 qualifying Group D.

Estonia 0-1 Slovenia

Fresh from their 3-1 win against Serbia, Estonia were brought down to earth by Slovenia who left Tallinn with a 1-0 win courtesy of Andrei Sidorenkov's 67th-minute own goal.

Estonia had high hopes of collecting a third victory in the section following their impressive victory in Belgrade on Friday. Instead it was Slovenia who seized the initiative, building on their 5-1 win against the Faroe Islands four days ago to climb up to second in the group.

Faroe Islands 1-1 Northern Ireland

The Faroe Islands withstood a prolonged period of pressure from Northern Ireland to claim their first point in UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying Group C.

Having lost their four previous group fixtures, the Faroe Islands were grateful for the agility of 40-year-old goalkeeper Jákup Mikkelsen before Christian Lamhauge Holst shocked the visitors on the hour. Kyle Lafferty equalised 14 minutes from time but despite a late onslaught, Northern Ireland had to settle for a draw which leaves them on five points from three matches.

FYROM 0-1 Russia

Aleksandr Kerzhakov scored the only goal in Skopje as Russia moved to the top of UEFA EURO 2012 Group B with a 1-0 win against the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.

Aleksandr Anyukov played his FC Zenit St. Petersburg team-mate in with a ball from the right after eight minutes, and Kerzhakov did the rest, holding off a defender to deliver a brilliant angled shot past Edin Nuredinovski in the FYROM goal. However, Russia had Igor Akinfeev to thank for their third away victory in the section as he saved a second-half penalty.

Slovakia 1-1 Republic of Ireland

Slovakia and the Republic of Ireland will head into next year with their UEFA EURO 2012 ambitions very much alive after sharing the Group B spoils.

Sean St Ledger put the visitors in front on 16 minutes though the half went downhill from then on for Giovanni Trapattoni's men. Another defender, Ján Ďurica, equalised following a corner and then Robbie Keane spurned a golden chance to restore the advantage when his spot kick was saved by Ján Mucha on the cusp of half-time.

Armenia 4-0 Andorra

Armenia followed up their impressive home win against Slovakia by posting a no-nonsense 4-0 defeat of Andorra, with Vardan Minasyan's side emerging as unlikely challengers in the unpredictable UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying Group B.

Gevorg Ghazaryan gave the home side a dream start with a fourth-minute opener and goals from Henrik Mkhitaryan and Yura Movsisyan added to Armenia's tally before the break to put the result beyond doubt. Marcos Pizzelli then struck on 52 minutes to send his side, at least temporarily, to the top of their qualifying section.

Belgium 4-4 Austria

Martin Harnik's equaliser three minutes into added time ensured Austria remain second in UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying Group A after an astonishing match against Belgium in Brussels.

It could have been so much better for the ten-man visitors, who had Paul Scharner dismissed midway through the second half but were nonetheless leading 3-2 until Marvin Ogunjimi struck an 87th-minute equaliser. Having twice been behind, Belgium remarkably looked to have secured victory when Nicolas Lombaerts headed past Jürgen Macho in the final minute of normal time, only for Harnik to restore parity with the eighth goal of the night seconds from the end.

Kazakhstan 0-3 Germany

Second-half goals from Miroslav Klose, Mario Gómez and Lukas Podolski helped Germany to a fourth successive victory in UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying Group A and left Kazakhstan still seeking their first point.

Klose broke the resistance of the well-organised, disciplined home side three minutes after half-time with his sixth goal of what is shaping up to be another prolific campaign. The FC Bayern München striker suffered a thigh injury soon after, however, and was replaced by club-mate Gómez, who doubled the lead before Podolski added a third five minutes from time.

Azerbaijan 1-0 Turkey

Azerbaijan captain Rashad F Sadygov struck the decisive goal as Berti Vogts's side produced a surprise win against Turkey.

Sadygov, who joined Turkish club Eskisehirspor in August, found the target after 38 minutes to give Azerbaijan their first points in UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying Group A and their maiden victory in eight meetings with their visitors. Turkey, also beaten 3-0 in Germany on Friday, are grateful for the two wins in September that are still keeping them in early contention.

United States 2-2 Poland

Michał Żewłakow won his 100th cap as UEFA EURO 2012 co-hosts Poland claimed a 2-2 draw.
The hosts beat Poland 3-0 the last time the two sides met in Krakow in March 2008 but were at an immediate disadvantage in Chicago, with Franciszek Smuda's side backed by impressive support from the city's Polish community. They were, though, twice forced to come from behind – through Adam Matuszczyk and Jakub Błaszczykowski – after goals from Jozy Altidore and Oguchi Onyewu.

Ukraine 2-2 Canada

Anatoliy Tymoshchuk's late equaliser prevented Andriy Shevchenko's 100th appearance for Ukraine ending in defeat against Canada.
Trailing at the break in Kyiv to efforts from Simeon Jackson and Atiba Hutchinson, Ukraine gave themselves a glimmer of hope just before the hour when Artem Milevskiy turned in the rebound after Oleh Gusev's shot struck a post. Tymoshchuk completed the recovery ten minutes from time with a strike which extended the UEFA EURO 2012 co-hosts' unbeaten run to seven matches.

France 2-0 Romania

Late goals from substitutes Loïc Rémy and Yoann Gourcuff secured a deserved victory for France against Romania and propelled the two-time European champions to the top of UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying Group D.
It looked as though Razvan Lucescu's well-organised side had done enough to earn a point when Rémy was sent clear by Alou Diarra in the 83rd minute. However, the Olympique de Marseille striker − who had only been on for 15 minutes − outstripped Cristian Chivu before firing a superb low shot beyond Costel Pantilimon. Gourcuff then emulated Rémy by collecting debutant Dimitri Payet's pass and rifling home in added time to confirm a second successive win for a resurgent France.

Israel 1-2 Croatia

Two goals from Niko Kranjčar proved decisive as Croatia overcame Israel in Tel Aviv, opening up a two-point lead at the top of UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying Group F.
The Tottenham Hotspur FC playmaker struck twice in the space of five minutes before half-time – his first coming from the penalty spot – in what was a classy performance from Slaven Bilić's team. Etey Shechter gave Israel hope on 81 minutes, but despite a spell of pressure in the closing stages Croatia held firm to displace Georgia at top of the section.

Spain 3-1 Lithuania

European champions Spain took control of qualifying Group I thanks to two goals from Fernando Llorente and a wonderful strike by David Silva.
All the goals came in the second half and only when Darvydas Šernas equalised in the 54th minute did Vicente del Bosque's side, playing in their coach's home city of Salamanca, truly show their class. They now have a two-point advantage over Lithuania and Scotland, Spain's hosts on Tuesday, after a perfect start to their UEFA EURO 2012 campaign.

Albania 1-1 Bosnia and Herzegovina

Albania are unbeaten in eight games and sit top of UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying Group D after Klodian Duro's equalising goal in first-half added time earned the hosts a draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Montenegro 1-0 Switzerland

Mirko Vučinić struck to keep up Montenegro's superb debut UEFA European Championship campaign with a third straight Group G win.
Having defeated Wales and Bulgaria 1-0 last month, Montenegro repeated the trick thanks to Vučinić's strike with 22 minutes remaining. Switzerland remain without a point while Montenegro are three clear ahead of their biggest test yet in UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying, in England on Tuesday.

Portugal 3-1 Denmark

Paulo Bento's reign as Portugal coach got off to the best possible start as his side defeated Denmark in an entertaining UEFA EURO 2012 qualifier at the Estádio do Dragão.
Two goals in two first-half minutes from Nani put the home team in control. Morten Olsen's side hit back when Ricardo Carvalho put through his own net but Cristiano Ronaldo sealed Portugal's first Group H win, leaving them in good spirits ahead of Tuesday's trip to Iceland. Denmark will attempt to get back on the winning trail against Cyprus in Copenhagen.

Greece 1-0 Latvia

Greece recorded their first victory of UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying at the expense of Latvia, defeating their Group F rivals 1-0 in Athens.
After dominating possession for long spells of a tentative encounter, Olympiacos FC defender Vassilios Torossidis broke Latvia's resistance in the 58th minute, scoring with a clinical finish following a neat exchange of passes with Kostas Katsouranis. The result takes Greece level with Georgia on five points at the section summit, with Croatia and Israel meeting on Saturday before the latter's trip to the Greek capital on Tuesday.

Wales 0-1 Bulgaria

Bulgaria gave new coach Lothar Matthäus a winning start as Ivelin Popov scored the only goal in Cardiff to bring their UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying campaign to life after defeats in their first two Group G games.
Popov struck three minutes after half-time to put a smile on the face of a Bulgarian team showing five changes to the XI who started last month's home game with Montenegro. The tall striker showed a sure touch, skilfully guiding a right-wing cross away from James Collins before firing in off the right-hand post.

Slovenia 5-1 Faroe Islands

Tim Matavž got off the mark at international level in style, scoring three times as Slovenia overwhelmed the Faroe Islands 5-1 in UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying.
Two goals from Matavž set the hosts on their way prior to half-time and the 21-year-old rounded off his hat-trick midway through the second period. Milivoje Novakovič also got in on the act with a penalty 18 minutes from time before substitute Zlatko Dedič made it 5-0. Another replacement, Christian Mouritsen, reduced the arrears in added time but it was scant consolation for a Faroe Islands side who remain bottom of Group C.

Northern Ireland 0-0 Italy

Northern Ireland's impressive start to UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying continued as they resisted heavy second-half pressure to hold Italy to a goalless draw in Group C.
Nigel Worthington's side had won in Slovenia last month and produced another solid display to frustrate their visitors, although it might have been even better had David Healy or Steven Davis been able to convert  presentable opportunities. Northern Ireland will nevertheless travel to the Faroe Islands in good heart for their next game on Tuesday, when Italy play Serbia.

Germany 3-0 Turkey

Two Miroslav Klose goals either side of a Mesut Özil effort gave Germany a comfortable victory in the battle of the UEFA EURO 2012 Group A pacesetters, though Turkey could not fault their support at the Olympiastadion.
Berlin's large Turkish community meant that the sell-out, 74,244-strong crowd was dominated by fans of the visiting team, but Joachim Löw's side never forgot that they were the home side, with their greater attacking endeavour rewarded. Klose headed their opener before half-time, and picked up a second three minutes from the end after Özil had made it 2-0

Austria 3-0 Azerbaijan

Austria made it two wins out of two in UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying Group A after a comfortable victory that leaves Azerbaijan still searching for a first point.

Republic of Ireland 2-3 Russia

Russia resisted a second-half fightback from the Republic of Ireland to breathe new life into their UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying campaign, running out eventual 3-2 winners in Dublin.

Serbia 1-3 Estonia

Estonia recovered from a goal down to register a shock victory against Serbia and leapfrog their hosts into second place in UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying Group C.
Trailing to Nikola Žigić's strike on the hour, Estonia turned the encounter on its head with efforts from Tarmo Kink and Konstantin Vassiljev. An unexpected triumph for the visitors – and unhappy start for new Serbia coach Vladimir Petrović – was confirmed in added time when a misunderstanding between goalkeeper Vladimir Stojković and Aleksandar Luković resulted in the latter scoring an own goal.

Moldova 0-1 Netherlands

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar continued his prolific start to UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying, taking his tally to six goals in three games with the only goal as the Netherlands claimed a hard-fought 1-0 victory in Moldova.

Czech Republic 1-0 Scotland

Roman Hubník headed the only goal of the game as the Czech Republic beat Scotland 1-0 to get off the mark in UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying Group I. The Hertha BSC Berlin defender finally ended the visitors' stoic resistance with 21 minutes remaining at the Eden Stadium to salve the pain of last month's surprise 1-0 defeat at home to Lithuania.

Cyprus 1-2 Norway

Two first-half goals ensured Norway kept up their winning start to UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying despite a late fightback by Cyprus.
Both teams made good starts in Group H last month, Norway beating Iceland and Portugal, while Cyprus held the latter 4-4. The Norwegians kept that going before the break in Larnaca, John Arne Riise and John Carew delighting the 2,000 travelling fans with goals, but Yiannis Okkas, on his 100th appearance, pulled one back with 32 minutes to go to ensure a nervy finish.

Luxembourg 0-0 Belarus

Luxembourg registered their first point in UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying courtesy of a goalless draw against ten-man Belarus, who remain unbeaten in Group D.
